Printers for Sale - Apple and NEC.

Buyer pays shipping & C.O.D. charge.

Printers are generally too heavy to ship economically, so be prepared for a larger than you might expect shipping charge. Local pickup is very much preferred, and I will deliver and set up in the Greater Los Angeles area.

What's Available:

1) Apple LaserWriter Pro 630, 8mb RAM. (new toner + includes at least one extra unopened toner cartridge) $400.00

PostScript/PostScript II imaging, 300/600 dpi, 8 pages per minute, letter/legal/misc. other paper sizes/stocks. SCSI port for disk based font metrics and outlines files. Ethernet/Serial/Paralell inputs, supports simultaneous printing from different ports to function in a multi-platform workgroup environment. PhotoGrade upgrade installed. This printer came from someone whom had purchased a palette full of stuff from an Apple internal equipment clearance or something, and bears some sort of department sticker on the lower right, as well as a brush stroke of paint. :-) Rubber wheels could use a dash of Rubber-Renu sometime soon, but that's true of any older printer that's spent some time in a smoggy city.

This printer has definitely been used well, but is not nearly approaching the pages-printed life cycle. I'd really like to keep this one just because it's a really well done and reliable printer, but I just don't have the space and I have to justify last year's purchase of a LaserWriter 8500 :-)

2) NEC SilentWriter II Model 90. (needs toner - current cartridge getting light) $125.00

Probably the most no nonsense laser printer that was on the market in those days. Good speed, VERY deep blacks, fine detail. PostScript imaging, 300 dpi, 6 pages per minute, letter/legal/transparency stock. Serial/Parallel inputs, supports simultaneous printing from different ports to function in a multi-platform workgroup environment. 4mb. RAM upgrade (maximum), includes pictured Dayna Communications EtherPrint-T Ethernet to LocalTalk adapter to allow this printer to be used on 10baseT Ethernet networks. Rubber wheels could use a dash of Rubber-Renu sometime soon, but that's true of any older printer that's spent some time in a smoggy city.

Minor issue: rear flip-switch to redirect paper delivery to face down tray on top of unit or face up tray at rear broken, needs a bit of superglue or bit of wrap wire to resecure plastic lever to bale. For now all output is to the face down tray (the usual tray) meaning that very heavy stocks or heavy label stock may not curl around and deliver properly. All normal stocks deliver fine. The entire rear face-up delivery tray and bale was an option, so a new one may exist out there somewhere in netland. Also, the unit needs a new Toner cartridge. It's only on it's 2nd cartridge, and each one lasted at least 5 years! I've spotted toner cartridges for this printer on the shelf at Fry's Electronics in the recent past, so toner should not be very hard to find.
