Duo in Dock. (battery removed on purpose - batteries included). Duo in use (NO, the Azul flat panel is NOT for sale!!!). Duo Dock ports. Allows access to all ports and 2 NuBus slots.

What this package includes:

1) PowerBook Duo 2300c, upgraded from 280c. • 40mb Ram, 1gb Drive, Global Village PowerPort Mercury (19.2kbps V.32terbo) Fax Modem, GlobalFax software.

Smallest lightest powerbook there ever was! This upgraded to PowerPC unit combines the sharp bright screen and the precise trackmarble from the 280c instead of the hazy off center screen and the dodgy trackpad of the 2300c. Unlike other powerbooks, Duo 2300 motherboards have both SCSI and IDE drive busses onboard meaning your drive options aren't limited like older powerbooks. New keyboard installed with the upgrade just for preventative maintainence.
2) DuoDock I (full size dock) with Color Lid upgrade, 10baseT ethernet card, Internal HD install kit. New power supply installed 06/18/2000!!

In my opinion the DuoDock I with the color lid upgrade is a better option than the more expensive DuoDock II with built-in 10baseT ethernet for the simple fact that 100baseT NuBus cards are available in the second hand market giving you a faster ethernet option.
3) E-Machines EtherDock.

Like the Apple Mini-Dock, but replacing the Modem Phoneline port with a 10baseT ethernet port. Gives the user full desktop machine ports (serial, SCSI, monitor, audio, etc.)broken out for convenience in connecting to desktop monitors, keyboards, SCSI drives and scanners, and other peripherals. I'll include a little adapter to allow you to plug into the modem telephone port even with the feet closed and the EtherDock in place.
(note: The 10baseT port does not function correctly with OS8.1 and up. If you wish to downgrade the OS, it may work for you.)
4) Newer Technologies MicroDocks - SCSIdock and ETHERdock.

Small, lightweight, convenient Microdocks bringing out a SCSI port and an ADB port, or a 10baseT ethernet port and an ADB port. The ETHERdock in particular is HIGHLY sought after, and I will NOT sell it separately!!! The ETHERdock makes your duo the smallest lightest CONNECTED powerbook ever, and you still have a printer port and fax modem. Killer workhorse combo for the road.
5) Many other accessories, extras, and spares:

  • Apple Floppy Microdock and portable Floppy drive. Drive works intermittently, and I'm told a rebuild is about $25.00 nowdadays. I lugged the floppy and dock all over the world and rarely if ever needed it since an ethernet crossover cable was much more useful. :-)
  • Various batteries (types 2, 3, and a type 4 BTI). Batteries are still out there for these machines, and I highly recommend the BTI Type 4 version. The batteries with this package are all older, the best of them yielding about 90 to 120 minutes runtime.
  • 3 power adapters; stock power adapter, spare stock power adapter, BTI Mini power adapter. Leave one in your living room, one in your office, and the BTI little one in your computer bag
  • MacOS 8.6, Navigator 4.7, AOL 4.0 installed and running great
  • AppleDesign keyboard, AppleDesign mouse, all cables to get up and running included.

6) *WITH LOCAL PICKUP ONLY* AppleColor 13" High Res RGB monitor.
(photo) (photo) - Monitor shown with a different system.
Monitors are too heavy to make them cost effective to ship, therefore the package only includes the monitor if you are able to come pick up the system in the Hollywood/Los Angeles area. This is the old workhorse of the Apple monitor line. You'll probably want to add a nicer monitor later, but this one will get you started and serve as an inexpensive 2nd monitor or spare later on.
